There’s a reason beach holidays never go out of style. The salty breeze, the rhythm of waves, and the wide-open horizon have a way of slowing life down. Whether you’re dreaming of a far‑flung tropical escape or a quick break somewhere closer to home, the world is full of beaches that feel like they were made for pure relaxation.

Here are some of the most breathtaking coastal spots worth adding to your travel list.

Whitehaven Beach, Australia

If you’ve ever wondered what paradise looks like, Whitehaven Beach comes incredibly close. Set on Whitsunday Island in Queensland, this beach is only accessible by boat, seaplane, or helicopter half the adventure is getting there.

Once you arrive, you’re greeted by seven miles of dazzling white sand so soft it feels unreal, and water so clear you can see straight to the bottom. The swirling contrasts of turquoise and white have made Whitehaven one of the most iconic and photogenic beaches on the planet. It’s the kind of place you don’t just visit; you remember for a lifetime.

Navagio Beach, Greece

Much closer to home sits one of Europe’s most famous views: Navagio Beach, tucked away on the Ionian island of Zakynthos. Also known as “Shipwreck Beach”.

This hidden cove is framed by towering limestone cliffs and home to the wreck of the MV Panagiotis, which sits dramatically on the sand.

Reaching Navagio is only possible by boat, adding a sense of mystery and exclusivity. Depending on your timing, you might even have moments of complete calm with just the cliffs, the sea, and the soft echo of waves a rare experience considering how photographed this beach is. Every Greece itinerary should include this epic beach.

Anse Source d’Argent, Seychelles

On the island of La Digue, Anse Source d’Argent doesn’t just look beautiful it looks unreal. The beach is famous for its smooth granite boulders, soft pale‑pink sand, and shallow lagoon perfect for snorkelling. Thanks to its almost otherworldly landscape, it consistently ranks among the world’s best beaches and features heavily in travel magazines and film shoots.

Despite its fame, Anse Source d’Argent manages to feel serene. Especially if you visit early in the morning or close to sunset, when the light makes the granite glow.

Reynisfjara, Iceland

If tropical sands aren’t your style, Reynisfjara offers something entirely different and unforgettable. Located on Iceland’s south coast, this beach is known for its volcanic sand, dramatic basalt columns, and roaring Atlantic waves. It’s striking, moody, and cinematic, attracting everyone from nature lovers to filmmakers.

Reynisfjara is stunning, but it’s also powerful. The beach is known for unpredictable “sneaker waves” large waves that can surge much farther up the shore than expected. Visitors are encouraged to stay well back from the water and follow all safety signs. Admired from a safe distance, it’s one of the most dramatic coastal landscapes on Earth. Because it is so close to route one you can find it on many Iceland itineraries.
