1 Gornergrat in Zermatt
If you want drama a beautiful train ride and endless glacier views without effort, this is it.
The Gornergrat cogwheel train will take you from Zermatt along one of the most amazing train ride high up into glacier territory. No walking necessary. Step off the train and you’re standing in front of the Matterhorn with glacier views.
We’ve done this with kids in all the seasons and one time even in trainers. This is really a beautiful trip where you can tick of quite some bucket list moments.

2 Engelberg – Mount Titlis
Mount Titlis attracts visitors from all over the world, especially those wanting to experience eternal snow and stand on a glacier without a serious climb.
The rotating Titlis Rotair cable car alone makes the journey memorable. Within minutes you’re transported from green meadows in Engelberg to a world of ice and rock at over 3,000 metres. It’s one of the easiest ways to experience true high-alpine scenery in Switzerland.
One thing I love about Titlis in summer is the contrast: you can leave the valley in shorts and find yourself walking through snow at the summit. And if you’re visiting from abroad without winter gear, you can rent snow boots and warm clothing at the top.
Mount Titlis is a year-round destination. In summer, the glacier fun park opens for snow activities like tubing and sit-skiing. In winter, that same area becomes ski terrain. Either way, it’s one of the most accessible glacier viewpoints in Switzerland — and absolutely worth including if you want dramatic mountain views without hiking.

3 Stanserhorn – Lake Lucerne
If you’re travelling with kids — or anyone who loves a little adventure without the effort — this one is special.
The journey up is half the experience. You start with a charming historic funicular and then switch to the CabriO, the world’s first open-air double-decker cable car. Standing on the upper deck, wind in your face, as the landscape drops away below you. This already feels like an adventure before you even reach the top.
At the summit, you’re rewarded with wide-open views over Lake Lucerne and the surrounding Swiss Alps. There’s space to wander, a panoramic terrace, and a restaurant with floor-to-ceiling views. No hike required. Just step out and take it all in.
It’s one of those mountain viewpoints in Switzerland that feels high alpine — but is incredibly easy to access.
There is a short loop hike if you do want to get some steps in and a nice BBQ place. Maybe bring a sausage along.

4 Grindelwald First
If you want a mountain view with a touch of thrill — without hiking for hours — maybe the First is what you’re looking for.
A gondola from Grindelwald takes you straight up to First. From there, the Cliff Walk hugs the rock face and leads you to a suspended platform overlooking the dramatic peaks of the Bernese Oberland. While standing there you’re looking right at the Eiger Nordwand.
Yes, it feels adventurous.
Yes, your heart might beat a little faster.
But it’s completely manageable — even with younger kids and grandparents.
The views stretch across rugged alpine terrain, glaciers in the distance and that classic Grindelwald valley below. You can stop for lunch, sit in the sun, or simply soak in one of the most dramatic Swiss mountain panoramas you’ll see without a hike.
It’s proof that “no hiking” does not mean “less impressive.”

5 Diavolezza – St.Moritz
Diavolezza feels wild and remote — yet it’s surprisingly simple to reach.
A cable car lifts you straight into high alpine terrain in the Bernina region near St. Moritz. Step off at the top and you’re standing in front of glacier views that look almost untouched.
The Bernina range stretches across the horizon. Ice fields shimmer below. The air feels thinner, quieter, sharper.
And yet — you didn’t hike for hours to get there.
There’s a panoramic terrace, a mountain restaurant, and short optional walks if you feel like stretching your legs. But even if you don’t move another step, this is one of the most powerful accessible mountain viewpoints in Switzerland.
It’s raw, dramatic, and completely unforgettable. The last few times we’ve been up there we always built a small snowman, even during a summer visit.

6 Monte San Salvatore
If you want that Mediterranean-meets-Alps feeling, Monte San Salvatore in the southern most Swiss canton of Ticino delivers.
A funicular takes you from Lugano straight up to one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Ticino. Within minutes, you’re looking down over Lake Lugano, with layers of rolling hills and distant peaks stretching into Italy.
It feels completely different from the high glacier drama of central Switzerland — softer light, warmer colours, palm trees below and alpine ridges above.
There’s a panoramic terrace that require a few steps, a small museum, and space to wander without committing to a proper hike. It’s an easy win if you’re staying in Lugano and want one of the most beautiful mountain views in southern Switzerland without the extreme climb.

7 Piz Nair St. Moritz
At 3,056 metres, Piz Nair rises high above St. Moritz — and yet it’s surprisingly easy to reach.
You take the funicular up to Corviglia, then continue by gondola, and suddenly you’re standing in proper high-alpine territory. No summit grind. No steep ascent. Just step out and the Engadine opens up around you.
From the top, you can look down over St. Moritz and across to Pontresina, with jagged Alpine peaks stretching endlessly into the distance. On a clear day, the visibility feels almost unreal — crisp, sharp, endless.
And if you’re not in a rush, grab a table at Restaurant Piz Nair. Sitting on the sunny terrace with that kind of view in front of you is exactly why I love finding these accessible mountain viewpoints in Switzerland.

If you want one of the most powerful mountain views in Switzerland without hiking — Mont Fort is hard to beat.
At 3,330 metres, it’s the highest point in the 4 Vallées in Valais. And on a clear day, the summit view feels almost overwhelming in the best possible way. You’re surrounded by giants: Mont Blanc in the distance, the unmistakable shape of the Matterhorn (Cervin), and a skyline filled with 4,000-metre peaks stretching as far as your eyes can see.
This is the kind of panorama you’d normally train for. The kind you’d expect to earn after a long alpine ascent.
But here, you don’t. A series of cable cars takes you straight up into high alpine terrain.
It’s raw. It’s dramatic. And yet it’s completely accessible.
