As you are planning your family holiday in Zermatt, you may want to consider the new Wolli Wonderland theme trail in Zermatt. This is a fun and fantastic adventure trail for the whole family.
The trail is designed to be both educational and entertaining. Magical figures arouse curiosity and offer a great storytelling adventure.
Although suitable for children of all ages, it is best for children aged 6-12 years old. Along the route parents have plenty of opportunities to get involved too.
The goal is that the whole family solves the puzzles to find Mitza the cat, Wolli’s friend.
Expect to find a mixture of audio (in German, English, French), text and illustrative instructions, and some fun activity stations.
And as with many theme trails it delivers information about the local flora and fauna.

Before you go on the Wolli Wonderland Theme Trail
The Wolli Adventure Box
You need to get your Wolli Adventure Box to complete the stations and find Mitza. Buy the box at the tourism office right next to the train station in Zermatt village.
Price of wonder box Chf 25.-.
Smart Phone
To complete the trail you need a smart phone. At the end, when you have entered the correct code, it will release a map which you need to find Mitza the cat.
Therefore, have your smart phone with you and most importantly, charged.
Pushchair friendly
The Wolli Wonderland theme trail is along the lower high-altitude trail in Zermatt – AHV-Weg, (No.4a on the Zermatt hiking map). A short steep section leads to a 2 km long, flat and wide trail which allows easy pushchair access.
After the last Wolli station follow the wide trail down to Winkelmatte, and don’t forget to look for Mitza.
On the Wolli Wonderland Trail
The start
The start of the trail is behind the beautiful CERVO Mountain Resort. You can either get there along the Riedweg, pass by the CERVO and the Sunnegga top lift entry and take the first small trail on your right.
Look for the sign below.

Alternatively, if you come from the lower end of Zermatt, you can use the Sunnegga elevator (free of charge) which exits in front of CERVO resort (the elevator only operates during the Sunnegga cable car operating hours.).

On the trail
Let the fun begin. Get your Wolli Adventure Box take a seat and listen carefully to the instructions.
Now you know that Wolli & his friends are all looking for Mitza the cat so follow the trail help them find her by solving the 16 different puzzles. Don’t forget to always refer to and use your booklet at the stations.

Back to Zermatt Village
After you solved the puzzle successfully, and hopefully found Mitza and taken a photo with her, the trail leads you back to the village via Winkelmatten. From here you can take the E-Bus or walk via Scheibenwald, Wiestiboden or Staldenstrasse back to Zermatt centre.
If you have not yet done so, a walk through Zermatt’s Old Town is always a highlight.
